Davos Arabian Nights Gala in the framework of the 49th World Economic Forum

which this year, was held under the motto “Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”

Wednesday, 23 January 2019: At Hotel Bürda Garden in Davos, in the Swiss Canton of Grisons, His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa hosted an “Arabian Nights Gala” in the framework of the 49thWorld Economic Forum, which this year, was held under the motto “Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.

Albeit neither US President Trump nor French President Macron partook at the leaders’ forum, this year attracted the largest gathering of heads of state and government hitherto, in fact over sixty in addition to the myriad of ministers, state secretaries, global heads of think tanks, multinationals, charities, foundations, family offices, banks, etc.

The “Arabian Nights Gala” was hosted by Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa in his capacity as Honorary President of Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) representing his father, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain and world’s oldest serving head of government. Co-host was the Vice-Chairman of Consolidated Contractors Company Mr Tawfic Khoury.

The gala was honoured by inter alia the attendance of:

  • Netflix celebrity (“Made in Mexico” series) and refugee as well as immigrant rights activist Hanna Jaff. She is a Mexican citizen of Iraqi origin.
  • Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, chairwoman of the Princess Märtha Louises Fund that supports children with disabilities.
  • Princess Tessy of Luxembourg, International Ambassador for Montessori schools and education, and founder of ‚Professors without Borders‘
  • Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark. Founder of TRIA promoting traditional Hellenic handicrafts. She has been a speaker at the Delphi Economic Forum
  • Princess Nilüfer Sultan of the Ottoman Empire (today roughly Turkey) consultant in Geneva and descendant of Abdülmejid I the Reorganiser, 31st Emperor of the Ottoman Empire, Caliph of Islam.
  • Nadja Swarovski, first female Member of the Executive Board of Brand Swarovski, was accompanied by her husband businessman Rupert Adams.
  • Álvaro de Marichalar, sailor, businessman. Older brother to Jaime de Marichalar, former husband of Infanta Elena of Spain.
  • Hollywood star Steven Seagal was guest of honour. Mistress of ceremonies was Delphine Wespiser, Miss France 2012.
  • Alexander Shulgin, Visionary Investor Composer Gruppa Kompaniy Familia
  • Diplomatic World was represented by Jozef Van Waeyenberge and Dorin Deelen.
